Be inspired by Romare Bearden, one of the greatest modern collage artists. You’ll work with watercolor and acrylic paints, marker pen, crayon and pencil plus incorporate found images of people and faces from newspapers and magazines. We will analyze Bearden’s Conjur Women portraits, look at reproductions, and talk about composition, color, texture and design. This is collage in a new and exciting way. Working with everyday tools and media, you will create a provocative, meaningful portrait. Request a materials list and other information. All basic materials provided. Bring your own paints, fabric, photographs and found objects to add a personal touch.

The workshop will include demonstrations, individual attention and group discussions. All skill levels are welcome. Coffee is available. Please bring a bagged lunch or have lunch at the Museum.
