Dimensional Collage
Demonstration and workshop led by Nancy Egol Nikkal

This is collage with joie de vivre!

Workshop participants will work with papers, wood, fabric, photos, small personal objects, both 2D and 3D, to create, reinterpret, recycle and expand their collage media and then begin work and create a dimensional collage.

The workshop begins with a brief overview of great artists who work/worked in dimensional collage, moves onto a discussion and demonstration of glues, hardware and tools required for the process. Participants will begin work quickly and many will complete the project the same day.

One-on-one interaction with the instructor will address technical problems, and personal aesthetic goals. All levels.

Participants are all asked to share some of the materials and tools they bring with them. The instructor will bring tools and supplies also.

BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS TO SHARE: 5-10 (or more) plastic, wood, metal and/or paper objects such as game board pieces, Scrabble tiles, Dominoes, playing cards, toys, stamps, stationary supplies, and any ephemeral objects with which you can part, bits of scrap wood, screw eyes, hooks and eyes, metal findings (small hardware), rubber or metal washers, etc.

BRING THE FOLLOWING FOR PERSONAL USE: 5-10 (or more) objects that have personal meaning such as jewelry (can be unassembled), favorite papers or fabrics, photos, old toys, blocks, small boxes, correspondence (letters and envelopes and stamps), postcards, childhood or trip memorabilia, your own recycled art work. Make photocopies of anything you do not want to lose.
