Conjur Woman is a primary motif in the art of Romare Bearden, and conveys a deep connection with Caribbean culture and his African-American roots. This workshop is about memory and your narrative. Think about the powerful women in your life and create a portrait. Work with paint, decorative papers, newspaper, fabric, magazine papers, and then cut, tear and paste everything into a collage.

Learn about Bearden’s papers, glue and collage technique. We will explore his focus on faces and hands, his attention to placement and scale. Workshop includes demonstration, discussion and individual attention.
